Parenzana

Parenzana used to be a 123-kilometer-long narrow gauge railway which connected Trieste and Poreč between 1902 and 1935 with different towns in the Istrian hinterland and greatly contributed to their swift economic development.

Parenzana – the road to health and friendship has today been repurposed into a bicycle route and walkway passing through three countries: Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. The route boasts numerous interesting sites that the visitors can tour like the Baredine cave, the Euphrasian Basilica, the Kažun field shelters, the model train engines in Vižinada, the Višnjan observatory etc.

There is a lot of activity on the Parenzana between March and up until November with many cycling excursions being organised, as well as walking and running tours. Pick Istria as your vacation destination, reserve your accommodation at Casa Gradinje and take part in one of many events taking place along the Parenzana.
